You can take the boy out of New Jersey, but can you take the Joy-zee out of the boy? Not completely. I was born in Ridgewood, an idyllic town about 20 minutes outside of New York City. I ended up in Sea Bright, right in the shadow of The Boss himself. The middle of three kids, I spent much of my youth playing sports, baseball in the spring and summer and football in the fall and winter. I have many fond memories of Jersey, and I made friends to last a lifetime.
I met my wife Ali while I was on the road working for the daily newspaper of the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City. She was living in Colorado, and we dated cross-country for more than a year—before I packed up and headed west just a few months shy of my 40th birthday. To paraphrase the Grateful Dead, I soon found that my new climate suited my clothes.
Today we reside in Boulder with our beautiful daughter Lily and a scrappy dog named Buster. I love to run trails, play golf and spend time with my family. I’m not sure I ever want to leave.
